Demetria P. Boyd is an Enrolled Agent (EA) located just outside Washington, DC in Maryland. She has 14 years of professional accounting experience including a 10 year career at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a Revenue Agent, and holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Business Advisory from the University of Baltimore (2008) and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Virginia Union University (2006). Demetria left the IRS and created D. Boyd

Consulting, LLC to focus on her passion for fostering relationships and providing tax education on the client side, particularly addressing needs she uncovered while performing audits for small business and self-employed individuals. She earned her Enrolled Agent credentials upon

resignation from the IRS in 2020. 

 

In her capacity as Revenue Agent, Demetria worked  face-to-face with taxpayers, conducting interviews, touring businesses, and going above and beyond to gain an understanding and provide tax education to each taxpayer based on their individual circumstances. As a self-proclaimed people person, these interactions were her favorite part of the job even with the restrictions and temporary nature of audits. She developed a reputation for approaching audits with care and being able ease the stress sometimes brought on by encountering an IRS agent, while simultaneously researching and resolving tax matters efficiently.

 

Demetria is also a proud Baltimore native who has always made it a priority to give back to the city she loves. In September 2020, she was recognized by the Baltimore Orioles as a/their Birdland Community Hero for her volunteer work at Marian House, Inc., an organization offering high quality rehabilitative services and housing to homeless women and their children. She fundraises annually for the Marian House Race to Embrace Independence 5K and currently

serves as a member of the Advancement Committee.
